Aesthetic Treatments That Scare Us:
Trends We’d Rather Leave Behind

October is the season for spooky things, but some aesthetic trends are a little too scary for us.

Aesthetic medicine is constantly evolving, and we love seeing new techniques, products, and technologies enter the industry. But just because something is trending doesn’t necessarily mean it belongs in your treatment plan.

At On Brand Aesthetics, our goal has never been to chase every trend. We believe treatments should be intentional, individualized, and designed to enhance your features, not change the face that makes you you.

So, in honor of spooky season, here are a few aesthetic trends we’d rather leave behind.

👻 Overfilling

More filler does not automatically mean a better result.

When filler is repeatedly added without considering facial proportions, tissue changes, previous product placement.. or the face as a whole, results can begin to look heavy or disproportionate.

Our approach? Treat the face, not the syringe.

Sometimes that means adding a small amount of strategically placed filler. Sometimes it means choosing a biostimulator instead. And sometimes the best treatment is actually doing nothing at all.

Knowing when not to inject is just as important as knowing how to inject.

👻 Chasing Every New Aesthetic Trend

“Russian lips.”
“Fox eyes.”
“Snatched jawlines.”
“Doll lips.”

Social media can make it feel like there is a new face to have every few months.

But your anatomy isn't a trend.

A technique that looks beautiful on one person may not complement another person's facial structure. Rather than trying to recreate someone else's features, we look at your individual anatomy, proportions, movement, and goals to determine what will look best on you.

👻 Treating Lines Without Considering Movement

We love neurotoxins, Daxxify and Dysport are staples at On Brand, but the goal isn't necessarily to erase every single line.

Facial movement is part of what makes you look like you.

Thoughtful toxin placement can soften lines, create balance, and prevent certain wrinkles from becoming more deeply etched while still maintaining a natural appearance.

We want people to notice that you look refreshed, not know you had your tox done.

👻 Filler as the Answer to Everything

Filler is an incredible tool, but it isn't the solution for every aesthetic concern.

Sometimes what a patient is seeing isn't actually volume loss. It may be related to skin laxity, collagen loss, texture, pigmentation, or changes in overall skin quality.

That's where treatments like Radiesse, Sculptra, SkinPen, medical-grade skincare, and other collagen-supporting treatments may make more sense.

Great aesthetic outcomes often come from combining modalities instead of relying on a single syringe to do everything.

👻 Ignoring Skin Health

You can invest in injectables, but if you're ignoring your skin, you're missing a huge piece of the puzzle.

Healthy skin creates the foundation for beautiful aesthetic results.

Consistent medical-grade skincare, daily SPF, collagen-supporting treatments, and addressing concerns like pigmentation, texture, redness, and hydration can make an enormous difference in how your skin looks, and how your injectable results come together.

And no, you don't need a 12-step routine.

We love Revision Skincare because many of their products are intentionally designed to work together, allowing us to create a customized routine without filling your bathroom counter with products you don't actually need.

👻 Starting Too Much, Too Fast

One of the biggest misconceptions in aesthetics is that everything needs to happen at once. It doesn't.

Some of our favorite transformations happen gradually. We create a plan, prioritize concerns, and build results over time.

That might mean starting with skin health, introducing a biostimulator, strategically adding filler where appropriate, and using neurotoxin to maintain balance and movement.

Aesthetic medicine should be a journey, not a race.

The Trend We’ll Always Stand Behind? Looking Like Yourself.

Trends will come and go. Our philosophy won't.

We believe in thoughtful treatments, continued education, realistic expectations, and creating results that complement your anatomy and lifestyle.

Because the goal isn't to look “done.”

The goal is to look in the mirror and still see yourself; just refreshed, confident, and feeling your best.
