Daxxify vs. Dysport: Which Neurotoxin Is Right for You?

When it comes to smoothing expression lines and preventing them from becoming more deeply etched into the skin, neurotoxins are one of the most popular treatments in aesthetics. But if you’ve started researching your options, you may have noticed there’s more than one product to choose from.

At On Brand Aesthetics, we offer both Daxxify® and Dysport®, two FDA-approved injectable neurotoxins designed to temporarily reduce muscle activity that contributes to dynamic wrinkles.

So, what’s the difference between Daxxify and Dysport, and how do you know which one belongs in your treatment plan?

The answer isn’t about which product is “better.” It’s about choosing the product that best fits your anatomy, treatment goals, previous experiences, and preferences.

First, How Do Neurotoxins Work?

Every time you frown, raise your eyebrows, squint, or smile, the muscles underneath your skin contract. Over time, those repeated movements can contribute to lines that become visible even when your face is at rest.

Neurotoxins temporarily reduce targeted muscle activity, softening the appearance of expression lines while still allowing your treatment to be customized around the way your face naturally moves.

Common treatment areas may include:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows (Glabella/ ‘11s’)

  • Forehead lines

  • Crow’s feet

  • Brow positioning

  • Lower-face and jawline concerns (Nefertiti Neck Lift)

  • Platysmal bands of the neck

Your treatment plan, dosing, and injection pattern should always be based on your individual anatomy and goals.

Meet Daxxify®

Daxxify is a newer-generation neurotoxin formulated with a proprietary peptide-based stabilizing technology. Like other neurotoxins, it works by temporarily reducing communication between nerves and targeted muscles.

One of the biggest reasons patients are interested in Daxxify is its potential for longer-lasting results.

In clinical studies of Daxxify for moderate to severe glabellar lines, some patients maintained improvement for approximately six months, although individual results vary. For patients who respond well to Daxxify, that may mean fewer treatment appointments throughout the year.

Daxxify can be a great option for patients who value longevity, have busy schedules, or simply prefer more time between neurotoxin treatments.

Meet Dysport®

Dysport has been used in aesthetic medicine for years and is another trusted option for temporarily improving dynamic wrinkles.

Dysport is often known for its quick onset, with some patients beginning to notice changes within the first few days after treatment. Full results continue to develop after that initial onset.

It can be an excellent choice for patients who have previously loved their Dysport results, prefer its treatment characteristics, or simply find that their body responds particularly well to it.

And that last point matters: everyone responds to neurotoxins a little differently.

Daxxify vs. Dysport: How Long Do They Last?

This is probably the question we hear most often.

Daxxify is designed to offer extended duration, and clinical trials have demonstrated longer-lasting improvement in glabellar lines for many patients. Dysport results commonly last around three to four months, although some patients may experience shorter or longer duration.

But longevity isn't guaranteed with either product.

Your metabolism, muscle strength, treatment area, dose, previous neurotoxin exposure, and individual response can all influence how long your results last.

Rather than choosing a product based solely on the longest advertised duration, we look at how a neurotoxin performs for you.

What About Dosing?

This is where comparing neurotoxins can get confusing.

Daxxify units and Dysport units are not interchangeable.

Each product has its own formulation and dosing recommendations, so seeing a higher number of units with one product does not mean you're receiving “more toxin” or a stronger treatment.

At On Brand Aesthetics, dosing is individualized based on your muscle strength, movement patterns, anatomy, treatment history, and desired result, not simply a standard number of units for every patient.

How Quickly Will I See Results?

Both products take time to reach their full effect.

Dysport is known for a relatively quick onset, with some patients noticing changes within a few days. Daxxify may also begin working within the first several days after treatment.

Regardless of the product used, we recommend allowing adequate time for the treatment to fully settle before evaluating your final result.

Have an important event coming up? Don't schedule your neurotoxin appointment the week before. Planning ahead gives your treatment time to take effect and allows you to enjoy your results without rushing the process.

So… Which One Should You Choose?

You don't necessarily need to know before you walk through our doors.

That's our job.

Some patients prioritize longevity. Others care more about onset. Some have years of experience with a particular neurotoxin and already know what works beautifully for them. Others are completely new to treatment and aren't sure where to start.

During your consultation, we'll consider your facial anatomy, muscle movement, previous treatment history, desired result, and preferences before recommending a treatment plan.

Because aesthetic medicine shouldn't be one-size-fits-all.

The On Brand Approach

At On Brand Aesthetics, our goal isn't to freeze your expressions or make you look like someone else. It's to create a treatment plan that helps you feel confident while still looking like you.

Whether that means Daxxify, Dysport, or deciding that neurotoxin isn't the right treatment for a particular concern, your plan should be based on what makes sense for your face and your goals.

Daxxify or Dysport?

The best neurotoxin isn't the one that's trending.

It's the one that's On Brand for you.

Ready to find your fit? Schedule a consultation with On Brand Aesthetics in Aurora, Ohio, and we'll create an individualized treatment plan based on your goals, anatomy, and preferences.

**Individual results and duration vary. Daxxify and Dysport are prescription medications and may not be appropriate for everyone. A consultation with a qualified healthcare professional is necessary to determine candidacy and appropriate treatment.
